Life Guards Dragoon Regiment was formed in 1809. By Imperial decree in 1812, the regiment was instructed "... to have exactly the uniform that the Life Guards received in 1811 by the Lithuanian Regiment, only a split cuff without valves with two buttonholes and buttons, helmets in the same pattern as the Horse Guard. The plaques on the ladles are the same as on the bags of the Guards Heavy Infantry, the waltraps are dark green: the lower ranks have a red cloth with the same monograms crowns and with two rows of yellow wool on the lining, for officers - with a red cloth dressing with two rows of gold galun and with silver stars. The remaining elements of uniforms, ammunition and weapons as in army dragoon regiments. " Since 1810, for dragoons, it was ordered to produce muskets and pistols according to a new model. Muskets are prescribed to be called Dragoon rifles. Flankers dragoons (16 per squadron) had both rifles and chokes. A bayonet relied on the rifles. The officers have marching gray leggings with buttons. Since 1811, the method of wearing dragoon rifles in an equestrian system has changed. Shotguns were no longer attached to the belt, but to the saddle. In 1815, the trumpeters were supposed to have horses of gray color, the lower ranks of dark wool: bay, black, brown, red.
